It's ALL good!!

We headed to the US Embassy about 9am this morning. When we got out of the taxi, the lines just to get to the entrance of the embassy were incredibly long. Thankfully, Helena, our adoption expert here in Bogotá escorted us to the front of the line to a much shorter line where we were then sent inside the courtyard to complete the visa process for Camila and Leandro. In the end we were only there about two hours, as Helena expected. The concern about Angi Camila's name was not mentioned and both of their visas were approved. When we received the final adoption sentence in Medellín, an "e" had been added to Angi. Under the new laws of the Hague Convention, a child's name must remain exactly the same as the immigration paperwork. Our lawyer argued with the judge's office at length but they were unwilling to correct it. We were concerned that the change would cause a problem. We are so grateful that everything went smoothly and we are to return tomorrow afternoon to pick up their visas.

Next, we headed to the Delta office to change our tickets to a week earlier!! WooHoo!! In all of our planning, we knew there was a great probability that our tickets would have to be changed but we NEVER dreamed it would be for a week earlier. God is so good! He has been so faithful during our whole adoption process. He knew what our days would hold and He has orchestrated every detail. Sure wish I could remember to trust Him completely and stop worrying about things.

The kids have been pretty wound up all day today. Leandro has probably asked me 500 times if we are leaving tomorrow. Poor little guy -- he misses his "Papi" terribly!! We got do Skype a video call with everyone tonight and he was so happy but then cried himself to sleep.

Tomorrow we are going to take a quick driving tour of downtown Bogotá so the children can see some of their capital city. Then we'll head to the embassy to pick up the visas. I plan to get everything packed up tomorrow evening and be ready to head out early Friday morning. We were able to get seats on the same flight Vic and the girls were on Tuesday. The attendant said it is a full flight but she was able to find us seats together. We have to be at the airport 3 hours early for an international flight so we will be leaving about 6am. We should be arriving at home about 5pm Friday night.

We are so grateful for all of your prayers and can't wait for everyone to meet our new kiddos. They are VERY excited to see all their new family and friends. Please continue to pray for them and our whole family as we know these first few weeks and months are going to be quite an adjustment for all of us. We are so excited to begin this new chapter of our lives together.

I still hope to go back in and add some detail and photos from the last week or so.

  1. Susan,
What an answer to all the prayers on your behalf for this adoption! We are so very thankful that you do get to change those tickets for a week early and we will continue to pray once you are home. I am with Jan....I would like to feed your family. Is there anything that your new kiddos will NOT eat ?
