Victor's mother, Melba H. Nichols, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ this morning. We are heartbroken but hopeful. We know that the Lord's timing is always perfect even though we do not always understand. We are so thankful that she will no longer suffer.Melba was an amazing wife, mother and most of all - "Grandmommy!" She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends. We covet your prayers during this difficult time. It has been very hard to be so far away. We have been in constant contact with Victor's father and brothers. Victor will fly home on Tuesday with Evie and Tori. Melba's funeral service will be Wednesday, March 18th. I am very sad to miss the service but it is unavoidable at this point in our adoption process.
Melba has been such a wonderful encouragement to us during our adoption! She already had such great love for her new grandchildren. Just weeks ago, she had meticulously planned gifts for each of them to welcome them into our family. We are so sad that Camila and Leandro will not have the privilege of knowing her personally. They complete a dozen grandchildren for the Nichols.
We are so thankful that the Lord has miraculously worked out every detail of our process so that Camila, Leandro and I will hopefully be able to return home by next weekend. Our plans at this point are to complete the necessary passport paperwork early tomorrow morning and then the kids need a vaccination before going to the embassy doctor. We will then all leave for Bogotá tomorrow afternoon. Victor and the girls will fly out of Bogotá Tuesday morning while I will stay to complete the visa paperwork for Camila and Leandro. If all goes well, we should be finished by Thursday or Friday.
I am busy packing and trying to remember how we got all of this stuff here! I'm pretty sure we're taking home more than we brought. Jenn, I NEED you!! Vic has taken the kids down for one last swim before an early bedtime. Gloria is going to pick us up at 6:30am to head to the passport office. Camila and Leandro are not morning people so it should be fun! At some point I'll fill in the events from yesterday if nothing else for our family memory book. This blog has been a terrific way to journal. I appreciate you guys following along and praying for us every step of the way. It is so obvious that God's hand has been upon us even during some difficult days.
I'm not sure what the internet connection will be like at the "resedencia" where we will be staying in Bogotá. Hopefully I'll be able to update a time or two. If not, I'll let you know when we get home.

Please know that my prayers are with you at this difficult time, filled with profound sadness and also with great joy. May God grant you perfect peace and traveling mercies!

Sus, All of you have been in my prayers. I know it must be difficult for you to be apart from each other, especially today. The kids and I enjoyed Tori - she was her usual adorable self. She and Madelyn made a kite(a paper one). Tori managed to get Trey out there with her too. We can't wait to see you!
